Carrying the Torch: The Musical Legacy of Jeff and Sheri Easter’s Children
For decades, Jeff and Sheri Easter have been absolute royalty in the world of Southern gospel music. Hailing from legendary musical lineages—Jeff is part of the famed Easter Brothers, and Sheri is a proud member of the iconic Lewis Family—the couple carved out their own powerhouse career starting in 1988. They became staples of the Gaither Homecoming series, earning multiple Dove Awards and Grammy nominations along the way.
However, one of the most heartwarming aspects of the Easter family ministry is how naturally the tradition has passed down to the next generation. Jeff and Sheri share three children—Madison, Morgan, and Maura—each of whom has carved out their own unique space in music and ministry.
1. Madison Easter
As the eldest of the siblings, Madison grew up right alongside the accelerating momentum of his parents’ touring career. Immersed in gospel music from infancy, he made some of his earliest television and video appearances alongside gospel greats as part of early children’s gospel projects.
Displaying a natural gift for instrumentation, writing, and production, Madison grew up to become heavily involved behind the scenes and on stage. Relocating to Los Angeles, California, with his wife, Shannon, Madison has continued to pursue musical avenues, blending his deep roots in Southern gospel with broader contemporary creative projects, while remaining closely connected to the family legacy.
2. Morgan Easter (Smith)
Morgan took a very visible role in the family group as a vocalist, capturing audiences with her emotive delivery and powerful testimony. Her musical talents earned her significant individual recognition early on, including the Singing News Fan Award for Horizon Individual and the SGN Scoops Sunrise Award.
Morgan’s path intertwined even further with the family business when she married Landan Smith, who spent many years as the drummer for Jeff & Sheri Easter. Morgan has spoken openly about how much she treasures life on the road with her family, viewing it as a blessing rather than a burden. Together, Morgan and Landan welcomed a daughter named Ryman Pauline (named in a sweet nod to Nashville history), who is already melting hearts by occasionally joining in on the musical tradition.
3. Maura Grace Easter
The youngest of the trio, Maura literally grew up on tour buses and backstage venues. In fact, true to gospel music royalty fashion, she made her first stage appearance when she was just 11 days old!
Alongside her vocal talents, Maura has pursued diverse creative outlets, including a strong passion for visual art and musical theater. Growing up alongside her parents and sister on tour, she represents the newest chapter of the Easter family harmony, frequently lending her voice to live performances.
A True Family Affair
What makes the children’s involvement so special is the genuine camaraderie that exists between Jeff, Sheri, and their kids. While many musical families experience burnout or tension from working together, the Easters have frequently noted that mutual respect, shared faith, and a lot of humor keep them grounded.
Whether they are harmonizing on a Gaither Homecoming stage, writing new music, or welcoming grandchildren into the fold, Jeff and Sheri Easter’s children prove that a rich musical heritage is best measured by the love, faith, and family bonds it sustains.
