Where Is Song Yiren Now? Career Milestones, Recent Projects, and Public Status

For international fans who first fell in love with her as the fiercely loyal and endearing Sang Sang in the massive fantasy hit Ever Night, Chinese-Canadian actress Song Yiren (also known as Ireine Song) has remained a fascinating figure in the C-drama landscape.

As her career continues to evolve, navigating both professional triumphs and unexpected public turbulence, here is a close look at where Song Yiren is now, what she has been working on, and how she continues to shape her artistic path.

Professional Growth and Recent Acting Projects

Transitioning away from being purely typecast as the “sweet campus sweetheart” of youth and sports dramas (such as The Best of You in My Mind and Professional Single), Song has intentionally broadened her repertoire.

• Stepping Into Historical Romance: Her career hit a fresh milestone with the release of the Tencent historical romance series The Moment I Met You (co-starring Ren Hao). In the drama, she showcased a dual-layered performance as Chu Yunshang—switching between a gentle flower-shop owner by day and a sharp, clever leader of a thieves’ guild by night. The project highlighted her ability to handle action elements, physical comedy, and dynamic on-screen chemistry.
• Expanding Genre Versatility: Alongside historical projects, she has maintained a steady workflow in modern and youth-centric stories like Love Formula, proving her enduring appeal in lighthearted romance while stretching into more complex character frameworks.

Navigating Online Rumors and Public Standing

As is common in the fast-paced and hyper-scrutinized Chinese entertainment industry, high-profile stars occasionally find themselves swept up in online storms.

• The 2025 Controversy: In late 2025, Song’s name unexpectedly surfaced in connection with online rumors and unverified speculation surrounding the tragic passing of actor Yu Menglong.
• Swift Legal Retaliation: Refusing to let malicious gossip damage her reputation, Song and her legal team moved rapidly. She issued formal statements addressing the rumors, officially reporting the cyberbullying and defamation to the police, and putting malicious slanderers on notice with legal warnings.

Despite temporary ripples of online noise and industry chatter caused by these baseless rumors, Song’s active release schedule and continued project rollouts have demonstrated her resilience against digital crossfire.

What’s Next for Song Yiren?

Now well into her thirties, Song Yiren represents a unique blend of cross-cultural background, early internet fame, and seasoned professional maturity. She has successfully shed the confines of her earliest viral “school uniform goddess” persona, establishing herself as a versatile actress capable of anchoring both period dramas and contemporary romantic series.

Whether she is taking on daring historical outlaws or grounded contemporary heroines, Song remains a prominent fixture in C-dramas. Supported by a loyal global fanbase (“Yi Ren”), she continues to focus on her craft, choosing scripts that challenge her range and silence industry noise through steady, hard-earned performances.
